Lunar Eclipse 31st January 2018

Lunar Eclipse 31st January 2018

Dear readers

I am going to write about the total lunar eclipse which is going to happen on 31st January 2018. This lunar eclipse will be visible all over India. The lunar eclipse will be visible in Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya and East-West Bengal after moon rise. Eclipse will start even before moon rise in the rest of India.
It will start from 17:18 (5:18PM) and end on 20:41 (8:41PM) on 31st January 2018.

'Parva Kaal' of Lunar Eclipse:

The duration of eclipse is called the Parva Kaal. Holy bath, charity and Mantra recitation has lot of importance during eclipse. Normally the 'Parva Kaal' lasts from the beginning of eclipse till the end of eclipse. In my opinion, everyone should do their spiritual activities by considering moon rise as the beginning of Parva Kaal.

'Sutak' of Eclipse:

Sutak of this eclipse will start from 8:18 a.m. on 31st January 2018.

Effect of Eclipse on Zodiac Signs:

This particular lunar eclipse is happening on Pushya and ashlesha nakshatras and cancer sign. That is why the eclipse will not prove to be very favorable for these nakshatras and sign. You can refer the following table which lists the effect of eclipse on all the zodiac signs.

Do's and Don'ts During and After the Eclipse:

During the sutak and eclipse holy bath, charity, Mantra recitation, reading of religious scriptures, pilgrimage, meditation, havan etc. should be done.

One should keep aside things like grains, rice, white clothes and other things that are to be donated before sunset on 31st January. These should be donated on the next day on 1st February 2018 at the time of sunrise, after taking bath, to an honest and deserving Brahmin or to the poor people.

These things are prohibited during sutak and eclipse; touching an idle, unnecessary consumption of food, sex, sleeping, oil massage etc.

Telling a lie, gossiping, cutting nails are also prohibited.

Consuming food or taking medicine during the eclipse are not prohibited for old people, patients, kids and pregnant ladies.

Pregnant ladies should avoid cutting vegetables and baking pappads. They should keep reciting religious scriptures during the eclipse so that the baby in the womb gets good samskaras.

One should drop Kusha grass or Tulsi before sutak in liquid food items like milk, curd, pickle, chutney etc. so that these do not get contaminated.

One should recite Mahamrityunjaya Mantra during Eclipse for getting rid of diseases. One can also do this remedy for recovery from diseases.

Remedy for Recovery from Diseases on Lunar Eclipse

This remedy needs to be done anytime before the eclipse starts.

1) Take a bronze or silver bowl.

2) Fill it with ghee (clarified butter).

3) Take a silver coin (weight of the coin does not matter). Keep it in your right hand and sit on the floor on an asana facing east direction.

4) With the coin in your right hand, recite this mantra for at least 108 times.

"Om Cham Chandraaye Namaha"

5) After this put the coin in the bowl filled with ghee

6) The patient should then see his/her face in the ghee

7) After the eclipse is over, the bowl along with the coin in it should be donated along with clothes, fruits and money as per one's capacity to an honest Brahmin.

It is not necessary that the patient himself has to do all these steps. Step 1 to 5 and step 7 can be done by anyone in the patient's family.
Step 7 can be performed next morning as well because the eclipse will end late in the night. Please note that the mantra should be recited when the eclipse is on.

Apart from this, reciting mahamrityunjay mantra during the duration of eclipse is very beneficial for any disease.

Numerologic! Not just titles, but Bollywood film release dates also decided by numerology !

Numerologic! Not just titles, but Bollywood film release dates also decided by numerology !

NUMEROLOGY

The extra ‘a’ in Padmaavat, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Judwaa 2, and Golmaal Again, and the release dates of films big and small are all guided by numbers. Superstition? Bollywood doesn’t care, as long as it works. When the ‘i’ was dropped from the film title, Padmavati, an ‘a’ was added at the suggestion one of best Numerologist,

Numerology has its share of sceptics, but Bollywood swears by it. The latest instance is Padmaavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. That the film’s title had to be changed from the earlier Padmavati — as per the Censor Board’s suggestion, following Rajput protests — is common knowledge, but what left everyone puzzled was the extra ‘a’. The puzzle is answered by one word: numerology.
Bollywood is big on numerology. Titles of films such as Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Judwaa 2, and Golmaal Again, were subjected to what we might call ‘numerologic’, as in ‘numbers + logic’. As for Padmaavat, even its release date has been decided by numerology — while the full-scale commercial release is on January 25, the paid previews are taking place on January 24.
An extra ‘a’ was added to the title of Padmavat to make it ‘numerologically correct’.
Suggestion to the film’s creative team. “Earlier, Padmavati totalled to 30, and number 3 is for Jupiter. The director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was born on the 24th (February), which is 6, [for] Venus. Changing the title to Padmavat, after removing the ‘i’, [the word] totalled an inauspicious number, 29, which indicates treachery and unexpected danger. I suggested that they could add a ‘d’ to bring it to 3 or 6. Bollywood’s longest-running film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge (DDLJ) added up to 6.”
Jumaani says, referring to the first Bollywood film for which he was consulted, “Our first title, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai had two ‘a’s, and the last film, Golmaal Again, added up to the same number. Padmaavat’s team took my second option. The two ‘a’s add up to 30, which is better.” However, in Baahubali’s case, an extra ‘a’ was removed, and the poster used a symbol to indicate the long vowel in the character’s name.
Also, the fact that the film is technically releasing on the 24th is numerologically correct, because “24 adds up to 6, which is a luckier date”, says Jumaani.
Judging by the success of these films, numerology will continue to find takers.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’s double ‘a’ was the result of numerology.

Aanand L Rai, the producer of films such as Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and presenter of Newton (whose original release date was September 22, 2017, but was advanced to September 21 for paid previews), says, “Honestly, once you start believing in something, it’s only faith that moves you. It happened with me when I got an extra ‘a’ added to my name. When you start showing faith, somewhere, psychologically, it starts working for you. It’s more of that than anything else.”
Trade expert Atul Mohan reasons, “Producers always want that the title should justify the film. They resort to numerology agar koi vehem daal de (if someone instills some doubt in them) ki ‘yeh title nahi hona chahiye’. This happens, too, because they want that no sort of negativity should be there.”
The ‘y’ from Fanney Khan was removed for the upcoming film starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, and Anil Kapoor.
The upcoming film, Fanne Khan, which stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao, removed the ‘y’ from the earlier title, Fanney Khan. The producer, Prernaa Arora, says, “My mom is a big believer in this.” Asked if this belief in numbers is valid in today’s age of reason, she says, “No idea. For example, I believe in the number 8, which brings me good luck. Mentally khush rehne ke liye bhi (to be happy) you follow it. I wouldn’t want to change even a chair or handkerchief if things are working for me!”
Akshay Kumar’s film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, highlighted the word ‘Toilet’ in English, and the rest in Hindi.

Prernaa’s co-production, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, had highlighted ‘Toilet’ and wrote the rest in Hindi. Yes, numerology.
However “Success is a blend of good fortune and hard work. It doesn’t mean, for example, that Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai mein do ‘a’ laga diye toh picture hit ho gayi (that adding two ‘a’s made the film a hit). The makers and actors have to work hard, too.”
